Straight after the lights I made up a place.

Goal number 1 was to stay in touch with the back markers.

Goal number 2 was to perform a clean pit stop.

Goal number 3 was to drive up the field as far as possible.

I managed to achieve the first one, the second failed because I crashed at the start of the pit lane and the third was going ok (I reached 18th) until I crashed on the last lap.

No points towards the championship scored this weekend..

I was down to 6th in the championship ratings with 59 points.

Straight after the lights went green I soared off into the distance.

Goal number 1 was to get more than 1 second in from to stop being attacked via the DRS system.

Goal number 2 was to achieve a clean pit stop, this I did at the end of lap 8.

Goal number 3 was to drive to the chequered flag.

I managed to achieve all  three goals which meant I had my maiden formula 1 victory.

Another 25 points towards the championship.

I was up to 3rd in the championship ratings.

Goal number 2 was to achieve a clean pit stop, this I did at the end of lap 5.

Goal number 3 was to drive to the chequered flag. This is where it went wrong. Having come out of the pits into traffic I followed the car in front too closely at the end of lap 6 and went into the pit lane when he did!

At the chequered flag I'd recovered to third place.

Another 15 points towards the championship.

I was up to 5th in the championship ratings.

There were no problems with the pit lane entrance this time as I led every single lap.

You cannot take liberties with the circuit in this game and this was borne out when I was given a 10 second penalty for cutting corners! I was within a couple of seconds of retaining the lead after the penalty was applied but in the end I had to settle for second.

19 points towards the championship cannot be sneered at though.

I was up to 9th in the championship ratings.

There were no problems with cutting corners this time as I remained on pole position¬

I opened up a lead of 1.6 seconds by the end of lap 2 when the team told me that the pit lane was open. I decided to pit at the end of lap 3. That's when my problems started. I missed the pit entrance and ended up on the wrong road. By the time I came out of the pits after changing tyres I was 24 seconds behind the 23rd placed car.

I drove the remaining 9 laps well enough to get back to 12th position.

No World Championship points for me this time.

Even though I qualified on pole I started the race in 10th position. I later found out that this was probably due to an over zealous attitude to cutting corners!

My first race in formula one was one of gaining experience of the cars in race conditions. From the start I lost a couple of positions but by the end I'd made them back up and finished a credible 10th.

My first World Championship point was in the bag!
